Peptic ulcers normally form on the esophagus, stomach or the upper
portion of the small intestine. They are open sores that develop on
the inside lining of these areas. If you have one or know someone who
does you are aware that part of the treatment is a diet which consists
of very bland foods and milk. However, there is new research showing
that this is not the most effective way to treat ulcers that already
exist or for the prevention of future ulcers. In fact these studies
have shown that the best way to do this would be eating a diet that is
high in fiber. Foods that would fall into this category would be fresh
fruits and vegetables. The vitamins contained in these foods acts to
enhance their effectiveness.
