[NH] Lutein May Slow Retinitis Pigmentosa
Supplementation with the carotenoid lutein slowed the progression of
visual field loss in patients with retinitis pigmentosa who are
treated with vitamin A, data from a randomized clinical trial showed.
Although lutein failed to improve the primary outcome measure, several
secondary measures involving the Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA)
improved significantly, investigators reported in the April issue of
Archives of Ophthalmology.
